Le Roi de la Gaufre
You can’t get anything like this in America or Dubai, and you can get pretty much anything in Dubai! The waffle is crispy on the outside, but super soft on the inside. The fresh whip cream takes it next level. It’s almost a magical waffle.
La Terrasse de Bruxelles
We got talked into this place by the host. It was pretty cold out and they only had outdoor seating, but when he offered my wife a blanket, that sealed the deal. So glad we went for it.
We started with the fish soup, which was honestly one of the best I’ve had in Belgium. We also got the Belgian stew (I have no idea what it’s actually called in French, and I wasn’t about to butcher the pronunciation). Just ask for the “Belgian stew” and they’ll know exactly what you mean. It was fantastic — easily one of the best meals we had all week.
We skipped the mussels at dinner because we’d already had them for lunch. In hindsight, that was a mistake. The tables all around us were full of them, and the smell of that broth when it hit the table was straight-up glorious. Everyone was drinking it down to the last drop. The guy next to us looked like he was having the meal of his life. We’re definitely going back for the mussels today.
The frites were excellent too — noticeably better than the place everyone says has the “best” ones. The house red was solid and ridiculously cheap.
The vibe is lively and fun, perfect for people-watching. Total hidden gem. Highly recommend!
